How should an automotive prototype RFQ be structured?
Send the current drawing and CAD model, material, quantity, finish, critical features, inspection records, delivery destination, and every applicable standard or approval requirement.
Can prototype work transition to repeat supply?
Yes, when the drawing and model identify the functional datums, inaccessible features, tolerances, and acceptance method clearly enough for process review.
How are special characteristics identified?
State the required certificate, lot or heat linkage, part marking, record retention, and whether traceability must continue through outside processing.
Is PPAP included automatically?
No. Product images are manufacturing references only. Supplier qualifications and required certifications must be stated and verified during RFQ review.
What quantity and timing details are needed?
A released drawing, native or neutral CAD, marked critical features, material specification, quantity schedule, finish specification, and inspection requirements provide the strongest starting package.
