Medical and laboratory parts often combine tight geometry with handling and cleanliness expectations that are easy to under-specify. A useful RFQ package separates what must be controlled on the part from what belongs in the manufacturer’s internal process.

Clarify material and finish requirements

Name the exact alloy, polymer, or stock form when it matters, along with any surface finish, edge break, passivation, electropolish, or coating requirement. If substitutions are acceptable only after review, say so in the quote package instead of leaving the decision implicit.

Identify contamination-sensitive features

Flag internal passages, threaded ports, sealing faces, optical interfaces, and small bores that are difficult to clean or inspect. If residue limits, burr restrictions, or protected surfaces matter, include those practical concerns in the RFQ so the supplier can price handling and inspection accordingly.

Request documentation that supports receiving inspection

Define which dimensions need recorded results, whether first-article output is needed, and what material or process records must accompany delivery. Buyers should also specify packaging expectations for clean, labeled, and damage-resistant receipt rather than assuming a standard commercial packout will fit the application.
