Wear performance depends on the complete contact system. A material name alone does not define expected life, so the RFQ should describe load, motion, environment, surface condition, and maintenance assumptions.
Describe the wear mechanism
Sliding contact, impact, abrasive contamination, insufficient lubrication, and misalignment create different risks. Identify where wear occurs and what failure would look like.
Confirm material condition
State grade, hardness range, heat-treatment condition, coating or surface treatment, and any prohibited substitutions. Pairing two similar hardness levels may not provide the intended behavior.
Use relevant acceptance evidence
Hardness results, material records, surface measurements, dimensional checks, and fit verification may be more useful than a generic wear claim. Agree the evidence before manufacture.
