Fluid-handling components create sourcing problems when port standards, sealing details, and internal passage expectations are only partly defined. The RFQ should translate application risk into clear geometry, finish, and inspection requirements rather than broad statements about leak-free performance.
Define all connection and sealing details
Identify thread standards, straight-thread versus tapered interfaces, spotface or counterbore requirements, O-ring gland details, and any sealing-face finish expectation. These features are frequently small relative to the overall part cost but dominate the rework risk.
Describe internal passage expectations
Show cross-drilled passages, intersecting bores, plug locations, and areas where burrs or trapped chips would be unacceptable. If cleaning access is limited or flow direction matters for inspection, those practical constraints belong in the RFQ notes.
Request evidence suited to receiving and assembly
Call out the dimensional checks, thread verification, visual requirements, and packaging controls needed before the parts reach assembly. Buyers should avoid vague requests for “full inspection” and instead define the features that actually protect sealing and installation success.
